Privacy

What we collect

Your email address and password, so you can sign in. Passwords are stored scrambled, and nobody can read them.

The display name you choose, and what you do in your pools: the groups you join, your picks, tiebreakers, standings, and burger balances.

Notes you send with the Feedback button, along with the page you sent them from (with invite codes removed), your device and browser type, your screen size, and whether you used the installed app. Only the app's admin reads them.

Basic technical records our hosting services keep, like IP addresses and browser types, to run the site and keep it secure.

Which pages get visited, through Google Analytics: the page, how you got there, your device and browser type, and your rough location (like a city or region). It doesn't get your email, your name, or your picks, and invite codes are removed from page addresses before anything is sent.

How we use it

To run your pools: signing you in, saving picks, grading weeks, and showing standings. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.

To email you on game days when you still have picks to make. Every reminder has a link to stop them, and you can turn them off in Account.

To see which parts of the site get used, so we know what to improve.

The site doesn't show ads yet. If that changes, this page will be updated first to say which ad partners are used and how to opt out.

Who can see what

People in your group see your display name, your standings, and your burger balance. They see your picks only once those picks lock.

Your group's commissioners also see the pool's history, including picks they changed. The app's admin can see everything, to fix problems.

Cookies and storage

A cookie keeps you signed in, and the site remembers on your device if you've hidden the Get the app banner.

Google Analytics sets cookies to tell repeat visits from new ones. In the EU, the UK, and Switzerland it doesn't: it only sends anonymous visit counts without cookies, until the site asks for your permission.

If you turn analytics off on the Your privacy choices page, a cookie remembers that in your browser. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, analytics is off for you automatically.

Services we rely on

Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in. Resend sends the site's emails, like sign-up confirmations and pick reminders, so it gets your email address and what each email says. Vercel hosts the site. Google Analytics measures how the site is used. Anthropic's AI reads the questions you type in Mystery Player to work out what you're asking, and the arguments you write in Win the Room to score them, and doesn't get your email. Game schedules and scores come from ESPN, lines from The Odds API, player stats and projections from Sleeper, and player career histories from nflverse (used under CC BY 4.0); none of your information is sent to them.

To keep Google Analytics from counting your visits on any site, install Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Your choices and rights

You can ask for a copy of the information the site keeps about you, ask to correct it, or ask to delete your account. Email the address below from the address you sign in with. We'll answer within 45 days, and asking won't change how the site treats you.

You can turn analytics off, and see what the site does and doesn't do with your information, on the Your privacy choices page, linked at the bottom of every page. The site honors the Global Privacy Control signal.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your information stays while your account exists. You can ask to delete your account at any time; see the Contact page.

Age

You must be 18 or older to use Tailgate Pools, and the site asks you to confirm that when you sign up. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
